CBD is becoming more popular day by day for its innumerable health benefits. A lot of debates are happening worldwide based on the merits and demerits of CBD. Even though a lot of people are supporting the use of CBD, some people still believe that CBD is some sort of marketing gimmick.

Currently, there are a lot of CBD products and CBD brands available in the market. You can have CBD using different consumption methods. The most commonly used CBD products are CBD oil, CBD edibles, CBD tinctures, CBD vapes, and CBD topicals. Most people mistake CBD oil and CBD tinctures because of their similar administration techniques. You should note that there are significant differences between these two. In this article, we are discussing CBD oil and CBD tinctures, and the comparison between these two.

About CBD Tincture

Alcohol and water are mainly used to extract tincture from plant compounds. Similarly, CBD tincture is extracted from the cannabis plant using water and alcohol.

We can say that CBD tincture has CBD suspended in an alcohol solution. 60-70% distilled alcohol is generally used in a CBD tincture to suspend CBD compounds. As the flavor of CBD tinctures is very bitter, manufacturers use additives and other flavoring substances to improve the taste of their products. Some common additives used by these manufacturers are peppermint, vegetable glycerin, cinnamon, sweeteners, etc. Some companies add supplements like vitamins to further increase the benefits of their product.

About CBD Oil

Different parts of the hemp plant like leaves, flowers, stems, etc are used to produce CBD oil. First, CBD is extracted from the hemp plant parts using any of the extraction methods. Then a carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil is used to suspend the extracted CBD to produce CBD oil.

Major Differences Between CBD Oil And CBD Tinctures

Both products have CBD as their major component. Hence there may be some similarities in their effectiveness. But let us focus on their differences.

CBD oil and CBD tincture taste different. As CBD oil is suspended in edible oil, it tastes better than CBD tinctures. Both have a grassy flavor, but the taste of CBD oil is more bearable compared to CBD tinctures.

CBD oil is thicker than CBD tinctures because CBD tinctures contain alcohol whereas CBD oil contains edible oils. Edible oils are more viscous than alcohol. Alcohol can act as a preservative, hence the shelf life of CBD tinctures is more than CBD oil.
